Plot<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ethelred Tressider and his agent Elsie Thirkettle have been invited to lecture on a creative writing course at Fell Hall, a remote location in the heart of ragged countryside that even sheep are keen to shun. While Ethelred\u2019s success as a writer is distinctly average, Elsie sees this as an opportunity to scout for new, hopefully more lucrative, talent. But heavy snow falls overnight, trapping those early arrivals inside, and tensions are quick to emerge between the assembled group. When one of their number goes missing, Ethelred leads a search party and makes a gruesome discovery. With no phone signal and no hope of summoning the police, can Ethelred and Elsie identify the killer among them before one of them is next?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the 11th book in the The Herring Mysteries series by L. C. Tyler. I love the books about Ethelred Tressider and his agent Elsie Thirkettle, where each gives their point of view of the unfolding story. Each story is self-contained and works perfectly well as a standalone read, so you do not need to have read the previous books to make sense of the latest one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This time Ethelred and Elsie have been invited to a remote country house in Yorkshire. They are joined there by two other writers as guest speakers on a creative writing course. However, closed off by snow, and a lack of communications, the group find themselves isolated and faced with a real murder to solve.

A jolly romp of a murder mystery. Nothing too taxing, but a great holiday read. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
