Plot<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Chef Charlie Hunter\u2019s arrival in the beautiful Chilterns is the fulfilment of a long-held dream: to open her own restaurant in an idyllic countryside location.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But instead of rural peace and a chance to lick her wounds, Charlie finds something ugly stirring under the chocolate box perfection. When a prominent local builder is found dead in suspicious circumstances, Charlie the outsider becomes a suspect.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the only way to clear her name seems to be to find out who the real killer is.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using all the craft Charlie\u2019s learned in kitchens \u2013 discipline, timing, preparation and grim determination \u2013 she will be as relentless in her quest to bring a murderer to justice as she is in creating the perfect meal.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Review<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I recently read this book, which turns out to be the first in a series. Charlie Hunter is an OK heroine, striving to open her dream restaurant in a small village. During the book her ex-boyfriend pops up but there is no rekindling of affection between them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The book is an easy read, with lots of chef information thrown into the mix. Described by another reviewer as an enjoyable romp, I can see the appeal as a holiday read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good enough, but not one that sends me heading for the next in the series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
