The President is Missing!

America faces a cyber-threat of such magnitude it will return the country to the ‘dark ages’. This key word is known only to POTUS and his six closest aides: the NSA head, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, the Secretary of Defense, the CIA director, the secretary of homeland security and the Vice President – and yet… someone has leaked this trigger to the enemy!

The President must face an unthinkable truth: There is a traitor in his Cabinet and his life could be in danger.

The only way to stay ahead of the shadowy forces tearing at the heart of America is to go off the grid, leaving behind his presidential protection.

The President must go missing…

The President is Missing by President Bill Clinton and James Patterson

The book begins with President Jonathan Duncan facing a select committee hearing. The Speaker of the house seems determined to have him impeached for allegedly having a telephone conversation with the world’s most wanted terrorist – Suliman Cindoruk.

But soon President Jonathan Duncan has a bigger threat. A cyber-threat that will wipe out all technology, sending the USA back to the dark ages.

I read this just before I read Year of the Golden Ape by Colin Forbes. In both books there are terrorists attacking the West and the ones in control. But in that book the terrorists  attack the people in control, and in this one they attack the computers that control everyone’s lives.

As everyone with a smartphone and internet access has the facility to broadcast, the only way the President can “go missing” is to go off grid.

Although the President is missing as far as the media is concerned, the reader always knows where he is. So this is not a “hunt for the President” novel. Instead it takes the reader on a journey with the President as he tries to find out what is going on and who he can really trust.

A fast paced thriller with twists and turns that keeps you guessing until the end. Recommended.
