Where better for a romantic get-away than the The Mason Hotel. Advertised as the ultimate couples retreat, with acres of grounds to roam in, luxury spa treatments and ‘Michelin Star’ quality dining.
We happily set off for our stay in Ongar and arrived at the delightful country hotel. It was the picture of bliss……or it was until a body was found floating in the hot tub!
Could we be at yet another murder mystery weekend?
Yes, we were. This time organised by Moonstone Murder Mysteries.
As we gathered for dinner, the irascible hotel manager heard about the unfortunate incident in the spa. Determined to avoid another bad TripAdvisor review (He swears that trifle was still in date), he decided to solve the crime himself. What followed was a madcap evening with traitorous staff, incompetent service and even an impromptu yoga session. I kid you not. Truly a night to remember with plenty of plot-twists, suspicious suspects and a couple of red herrings along the way.
It was just a shame we didn’t get a photo of (or with) the cast.
