Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Broken Clock

The City Adventurers took on roles as Baker Street irregulars and set about investigating Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Broken Clock. This was an interactive Virtual Murder Mystery Weekend by Red Herring Games.

The Story

You are invited to step into the gaslit streets of Victorian London, where a dull fog hovers in the air, obscuring unknown terrors in the capital’s winding roads. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson guide you through a shadowed labyrinth of alleyways and grand parlours, where every cobblestone hints at secrets waiting to be unravelled. Will you be able to solve the mystery before Sherlock? With the dangers of London around every corner, is Sherlock even safe from this latest threat?

Dare you step into the world of Sherlock Holmes?

The set up

Red Herring Games Virtual Murder Mystery Weekends offer a whole weekend of immersive fun in the comfort of your own home. The latest one was their 11th Event. Each weekend is different, and the events only ever run ONCE. So you have to be there or miss out.

Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Broken Clock was set in Victorian England. The audience were given the roles of Baker Street irregulars, Sherlock Holmes’ assistants, and tasked with discovering what happened and whodunnit before the weekend is over.

While the murder mystery part takes place each evening, the day is filled with activities, demonstrations and talks. The audience are free to take part in as much or as little as they want.

The Review

We had a lot of fun taking part in this weekend……and we even got to meet up with a fellow escape room enthusiast in America that we played a couple of escape rooms with in London.

Although the Murder Mystery itself takes part over two evenings, with live actor interaction both nights, there is so much more to keep you busy. There is the pack of clues plus additional video evidence to review and a whole range of add on activities. This time

  • there was a Bartitsu workshop which taught us Sherlock Holmes-style self-defense and explained how it was used by the suffragettes!
  • We got to play an online Escape game with another team and, yes, we managed to escape.
  • We took part in a Mystery quiz
  • We watched a themed cookery workshop and
  • We made cocktails, which were delicious.

If you get the chance to play a virtual Red Herring Murder Mystery weekend, take it. You will not lack things to do and you will have a lot of fun.
